Everyone in the Bay Area has an opinion about Daly City.
Most of those opinions are wrong.
I hosted an open house there last weekend. Here’s what I actually saw:
Buyers who’d been searching for 18 months finally doing math that worked. Professionals who’d written off homeownership in the Bay Area suddenly reconsidering. People who came in skeptical leaving with their phones out, running numbers.
The uncomfortable truth about Bay Area real estate right now
The people who built wealth in SF real estate didn’t find perfect neighborhoods. They found undervalued ones — before everyone else did. Mission. Outer Sunset. Same story, different decade. Buyer strategy here is the same: do the math before the emotion.
Daly City today has what those neighborhoods had then: proximity, infrastructure, community, and price points that still make sense.
That window doesn’t stay open.
If you’re a buyer sitting on the fence, or a seller wondering if now is the right time, I’d rather you have the real picture than the assumptions.
What’s your current read on the Bay Area market? Send me a note — I’d love to hear it.
